For a while now I’m trying to figure out why my method, triggered by the Grid View.
Row Updating event, doesn’t work as all samples say it should do.

I removed everything I did with View State and edited the original post again with what I currently got. I cannot sort the Grid View because I'm trying to sort with Your code doesn't have Data Source ID.
Hi All, In above written code only EDIT event is being fired & that is only once after that UPDATE, CANCEL no event is being fired. All I want to do is change the Grid Row Color on the basis of the value entered in QTY field.
I am using a Template Field to display my Edit, Update and Cancel 'buttons' in the first column of the Grid View within respective Item Template and Edit Item Template fields.
Within the Item Template I have an Image Buttong with a Command Name of "Edit".
One has it's Command Name = "Update" and the other "Cancel".
My problem lies in that the click on the Update Image Button posts back, but neither the Row Command nor Row Updating events get triggered.
You could expose security holes or corrupt your own data using general exception handling like this.
Also i noticed one thing if i Auto Generate the Columns All events are fired without any problems but if i use Template Field only Edit Event is fired that is only once.
For example a Sql Data Source, which is automatically added to your Web Form if you drag-n-drop your way around Visual Studio 2005.
The problem is, I’d very much like to do so, if ASP. But I can’t set a Data Source property or anything on the Sql Data Source!!! I probably have to read the cells on the Grid View of the selected row, find the controls, get the values from those and insert those into my Data Set.
All samples of course assume you’re doing everything in your page, but I have to do everything in my code-behind, because on forehand I don’t know what I’ll be binding to my Grid View.
