There are probably tons of people having asked this question already, but i can't seem to find any threads containing what i'm looking for. As every time i try, it starts validating my game files, goes up to 100% validated and then just sits there for ages.I have restarted steam, restarted my pc, deleted clientregistry.blob, tried to reinstall steam. This can be caused by faulty installations or downloads of addons or games the server has mounted that you haven't.

Try removing some and see if that speeds things up.
Your Graphics card is either overheating or failing. If you're seeing black and purple, you are missing the texture for a certain object or part of the map.
then restart your pc and load the backup into steam.
(Not sure if Mac's do this as Im on pc but im sure it would)It's fixed some problems like this I have had only on a PC.
Since this 17mb patch whenever it finished downloading it would get stuck at 100% and after a while this wild message appeared saying something like "Corrupt files cannot launch the game" and after that it would start validating files nonstop.
All it says is missing executable for every game, and payday 2 beta just keeps saying validating files to 100% and nothing happens after that. Ive tried deleteing the appcache and running as an administrator but to no avail.
Hey guys, I transferred Counterstrike to my desktop from my laptop to play on the same steam account a while back.
They just released a new update, but steam will not update it because it does not recognize that the game is installed in the first place.
If I click "close," it just starts the process over, and the game will not load. EDIT: Okay, I did that and it was basically a no-go, so I went into Steam, right-clicked Portal and went into Properties, and from there Local Files. I went into my Finder, searched for and deleted all of the files that came up.
After validating for the 5 billionth time, i get this, aaaaaaaagain, "The steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request.
Last night, I finished installing Portal When I would attempt to run, I had the validation problem, followed by an error message stating that the servers were to busy. i can get it to work if i delete local content and re-download portal, but the game invariably freezes on the first play. Please try again in a few minutes" How am i suppose to convert my female friend into a Mac gamer now??? I'm not sure what "bump" means, but I suspect I'm doing it too - I've got the same issue.
